A Little Break and Some Reminders

Okay, I'm gonna be a bad blogger this week...

I'm leaving today to go back to Portland. Tomorrow night is Brent's high school reunion. I originally planned on getting a ton of things done and had hoped to play along with more of the challenges that I'm sponsoring this week.  Unfortunately life and my day job have gotten in the way and I have nothing to show ya, lol.

But the good news is...once I get back, on Monday...we'll be starting sneak peeks for my Christmas release!  So any orders placed in the store from now and through the weekend will be shipped on Monday, October 4th.

Don't forget, today is the last day to participate in the Operation Write Home Birthday Bash challenge.  All you have to make is a fall card.  I'm still sponsoring 365 Cards for the rest of the week, so I hope you enjoy playing along with them and seeing the DT's lovely cards!

Everyone have a fabulous weekend and see ya on Monday with sneak peeks!

Operation Write Home Birthday Bash

Operation Write Home celebrated their 2nd anniversary on September 12th and they're celebrating all month!  Today we are hosting a challenge for you to make a card for Operation Write Home.  OWH sends blank handmade cards for them to send home to their loved ones and please check the card requirements on the OWH blog, first, as there are some guidelines that must be followed.  You can see those guidelines here.

The challenge is pretty easy...make any new fall card.  All players and all stamp manufactures are welcome for this challenge.  You will have until next Thursday, September 30th to enter into the contest.  I will randomly draw one winner and that person will win a $20 credit to Sparkle Creations Rubber Stamps.

Also, for everyone who participates, will get 10% off any purchases made within the next week.  After you have linked your card to the Inlinkz below, you can use the code OWH10BASH.

For my card, I decided to do something a little out of the box.  I used my new Jovial paper for this.  Though the black overalls made my image quite dark, I love how non-traditional this came out.  Also, I'll admit...I always use glitter on my cards and since one of the rules is that we can't, I purposely made a guy card for this, lol.

Paper: Basic Grey Jovial
Stamps: Sparkle Creations, sentiment is PTI
PTI Buttons, Copics, and Bigger Brads

I'm lucky enough to live near to Sandy (who runs OWH) and I've been to a few of the card making parties here in town.  I thought I would share some pictures.  I'm really excited and blessed to be part of such a wonderful celebration.

It's been fun to get together with all of these ladies and do something for a great cause.  I'm looking forward to going to many more card making parties in the future.

Good luck to everyone and can't wait to see what you all make!  I hope you all have a lovely Thursday!

Trick of Treat...Smell My Feet

Yesterday's challenge was Anything Fall.  Today I have a darling card from our guest designer, Risa, and I finally finished my card, lol.

Yes...life has been extremely busy, in my day job and my personal life.  So, I actually started this card as my color challenge from last week...and it works well for this week's challenge too.  I also used Sweet Sunday Sketch #86 for this.

Tomorrow I have a very special challenge going on, so you won't want to miss it!  And Grey's comes back on!  So excited! :)

Release Day and Farming Oliver Previews

All new fall stamps are now available!  Click here to start shopping now!  Thank you for all the fabulous comments on Lucy...Brent really appreciates them too. :)  I used Random. org and the winner of Broomstick Lucy is #6 Lesley.  Please email me your address to sparklecreationsrubberstamps@live.com and I will send that out to you soon.

My new Basic Grey paper came on Tuesday...it's about time, lol. So I just had to open and cut into it right away!  I colored in Oliver's overalls and hat with my B97 Copic marker and then took a piece of denim and put some colorless blender on it.  Then I pressed it against the blue to get it texturized.

Paper: Basic Grey Pyrus

Today I am giving away a Farming Oliver stamp. Make sure to check out the rest of the DT's lovely creations and then come back and comment here for a chance to win. You have until midnight EST to comment and the winner will be announced tomorrow morning.

We are showcasing Broomstick Lucy today, which will be available for purchase on Saturday, Sept. 11th, 2010.  Out of all of my characters, Lucy is Brent's favorite. :)  Isn't it cute that my hubby actually has a fav?  He was pretty disappointed that Lucy didn't make it into the Christmas release (which will be in Oct.), lol.

I decided to have a little bit more fun with Lucy and gave her green witch hair.  Though I promise that Lucy is a good witch.  It reminds me of Bewitched and watching re-runs on Nick at Nite with my mom.  This started out as this week's Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge #84, but you can see that I altered it a bit.

SCRS Challenge #8 and Freebie Friday Winners

Sorry this post is so late...I've been on vacation all weekend.  I hope you all had a great Labor Day weekend!  Thank you everyone for participating in the challenge and sharing your thoughts on coloring and paper piecing.  Sometimes I think that people might get intimidated by my images if they don't color lots.

I used Random.org and my winners are #2 Peggy (challenge) and #16 Ola (freebie friday).  Please email me your addresses to sparklecreationsrubberstamps@live.com and I will send out your prizes soon.

Here is the darling card that Peggy made.  I love the softer earth colors that she used with her.

Sponsoring Oh, Alice - Sparkle Your Card

Today Sparkle Creations Rubber Stamps is sponsoring the challenge at Oh, Alice.  The challenge today is to SPARKLE your card.  Ah, what an awesome challenge, right?!?  Okay, enough of the cheesiness, lol.  But I really can't help it.

My friend Tricia asked me to make a get well card for her friend Debbie.  She just had surgery this week on her back.  I knew this image would go great with this sentiment and I do hope that Debbie recovers soon!

Paper: Basic Grey Green at Heart
Stamps: Sparkle Creations, sentiment is Stamping Bella
Rhinestones, Prima Flowers, Crystal Stickles, Copics, PTI Buttons, and Twine

If you participate in this week's challenge at Oh, Alice, you will have the oppertunity to win a $20 store credit to Sparkle Creations Rubber Stamps.  Plus, all the participants will get a 10% off coupon for just playing along!  So hurry over and we can't wait to see what you create!

Labor Day Weekend SALE and Freebie Friday - Paper Piecing

I will be on vacation this holiday weekend, so all orders from today through Monday, will be shipped out on Tuesday, September 7th.  Starting right now, everything in the store is 10% off and the sale will run through Monday night at midnight.  Use the code LABORDAY to get the discount.  Click here or on the Buy Stamps link above to start shopping!

Paper piecing is one of my favorite techniques, though I will admit that I rarely do it.  Ever since I got hooked on coloring, I just tend to stick to my Copics.  My images are very detailed and I totally get that not everyone loves to color, lol.  I think paper piecing is a great alternative to coloring and you still get a fabulous wow factor!

Today, I will be giving away Swimming Lucy.  All you have to do is comment and tell me if you love to color images or not so much.  Are you more into paper piecing images like this?

Gina K did a lovely video on how to paper piece, and I just love her videos.  I think most of her Stamp TV videos are some of the best out there.  Here is the link to her paper piecing video.  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aBZqaotihp4&feature=related

This is such a fabbie card that my friend Amy made!  Didn't she do a fabulous job cutting out all the parts?!?

You have until Sunday night to comment and I will draw my winner on Monday when I draw the winner for Sparkle Creations Rubber Stamps Challenge #8. Good luck!
